Club Strokeplay: Thanks to those who took part in last Sunday’s competition in ideal autumnal conditions as after 20 years of sponsorship there was a special connection to Charlie Foley’s with this year’s winner as James Foley won his first club major with a score of 83 Nett. Congratulations to James on his win as the results in full were as follows: Overall Nett: James Foley 83, Overall Gross: John McGrath 92, Second Nett: Michael Cronin 85, +3-6 Nett: Daniel Kelly 89, 7-15 Nett: Denis Duggan 86, Hole-In-One: Dave Spillane (6th Hole). U16 Scratch Cup: This event (sponsored by the Victoria House Hotel) was held for the first time in three years last Saturday. Aodhan O'Halloran began a new era for the competition with victory in the event overall by a single shot as Shona Griffin won the Girls Prize. Our thanks to our U16 Officer Derry McCarthy for bringing back the event this year as we hope to grow it from here. Results- (Deerpark unless stated)- Overall Winner: Aodhan O'Halloran 102, 14-15 Winner: Adam Twomey 114 (B18), 14-15 Runner-Up: Adam Shine 114, 8-13 Winner: Luke Looney 103, 8-13 Runner-Up: Fionn McMonagle 113, 8-13 Third Place: Fionn O'Callaghan 114 and Girls Prize: Shona Griffin (Listowel) 136. Adult Scratch Cups: At a recent Committee Meeting it was decided not to go ahead with plans to reschedule these postponed events from earlier this year for the October Weekend this month and instead priortise current work on the course in relation to the staging of next year’s Munster Strokeplay Finals. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and an announcement on the remaining Player of the Year events will be made shortly. Club Singles Matchplay: Our Murphy’s Bar sponsored Championship event has not reached the final stage after Nathan Cronin and James Foley reached the final following their recent semi-final wins over both David Harnett and Daniel Kelly respectively. Deepest Sympathies: The club offers its condolences to Castleisland’s John Fitzgerald and his family on the death of his son Shane last week. May he Rest In Peace.
