Sunday August 16th:

What a day of days last Sunday was for the club in three different venues in three different competitions! Firstly, pride of place went to Ciara Lowe on completing a National and Munster Ladies Intermediate Strokeplay double in Cunnigar at the National Ladies Strokeplay Finals with her one under par round for her final 18 holes on Sunday giving her a winning total of four over par. Ciara's win comes 28 years after Margaret C Looney's win in the same event back in 1998 and 40 years after her dad Connie was on the Kerry's Mens team that won the 1986 National Inter-County. Congratulations to Ciara from all in the club.

Not to be outdone her father teamed with Dan Broderick on Saturday to win the Intermediate Section of the Listowel Scotch Foursomes Scratch Cup.

Also at Listowel David Harnett won the Junior Mens Singles event as Damien Fleming was third in the Senior Mens event.

Finally, on Sunday, after some disappointment for himself at the conclusion of our U16 Scratch Cup on Saturday, Fionn McMonagle bounced back in style today to win the Bruff U16 Scratch Cup six days before it hosts the National Singles and Inter-County event. Well done to Fionn on completing a magnificent showing for the club.

U16 Scratch Cup:

As mentioned there was a dramatic finish at our U16 Scratch Cup event on Saturday as a run of late birdies from Daniel Quinlan gave him victory over 36-hole leader Fionn McMonagle by a single stroke to become the first player to claim our brand new Claret Jug kindly sponsored by The Victoria Killarney. Our thanks again to Johnny and Sinead Courtney as we say well done to our U16 Officers Mike Cronin and Niall O’Loughlin for running the event itself.
