Munster Inter-Counties:

A number of our members claimed medals with the Kerry teams last weekend in Riverdale. Both Damien Fleming and John McGrath (Senior) were part of a side that missed out on victory by one stroke to Cork but had to settle for third on countback to Tipperary. Michael Cronin, James Fleming, Connie O’Sullivan and Dan Broderick were second in the Intermediate event with that Kerry side who are now going forward to the National Challenge this year as both Eileen McCarthy and Ciara Lowe were second in the Nett event with the Kerry team.

Friday Night:

A massive thank you to everyone who attended our gathering on Friday after the completion of our Chairman's Prize as we thank Chef de Excellence Club President Derry McCarthy for the Barbeque, Shirley and Helena for their hospitality and our Chairman Sean Kelly and Captain Gearoid Cronin for looking after everyone on the night. The prizes for the Willie Parker Memorial back in April along with the Utility Trust Doubles Matchplay were presented tonight alongside our Chairman's and Captain's Prizes. The only man to accept prizes from all four competitions was our winner as Denis Duggan won his third major competition of the year in the club by a slender shot from Alan O'Sullivan.

Chairman’s Prize Results:

Overall Nett: Denis Duggan 89,

Overall Gross: John McGrath 96

Second Nett: Alan O'Sullivan 90,

Third Nett: Jason Reen 92,

Ladies Nett: Eileen McCarthy 109,

18 Gross: Gearóid Cronin 49,

18 Nett: Bobby Kelly 42 (B9)

Lucky Dip: Jean O'Shea.

U16 Club Matchplay:

Our thanks to everyone who took part in this event on Tuesday August 25th last. We had a record entry of over 50 players. Massive thanks to our U16 Officers Mike Cronin and Niall O'Loughlin for their efforts as last week's competition marked the 30th Anniversary of its first staging when a certain D Fleming was the first winner. It's slightly fitting then that a son of a former neighbour of his would win today as Fionn Culloty became the latest bearing that first name to make his mark on the club scene. He would defeat our U16 Scratch Cup winner Daniel Quinlan in the Championship decider.
