Club Notes 9.1.26
Jan 09, 2026
Festive Period: We had a busy and interesting end to 2025 as it was not until the onset of the first weekend of 2026 that matters slowed down slightly. Christmas Turkeys: The results of the final round (sponsored by Tim Jones Butchers) held on Sunday December 21st were as follows- Two Ball Scramble- First Nett: Alan O'Sullivan & Jerry Kelliher 34½, Gross: James Foley & Hugh O'Sullivan 45 and Second Nett: Dave Spillane & Robbie O'Brien Snr 36. St Stephens Day: Thankfully the frost did not arrive like it did on Christmas Day as we managed to get our 18-hole Three Ball Scramble played. Danny Nolan Memorial Cup Winners (Overall Nett): Denis Duggan, Daniel Quinlan & Luke O'Sullivan 33. Johnny Kelly Memorial Shield Winners (Overall Gross): John McGrath, Mike 'Seve' O'Leary & Jack O'Leary 44 and Second Nett: Aidan O'Keeffe, Niall O'Loughlin & Jean O'Shea 34 1/3. Utility Trust Doubles Matchplay Final: This was an interesting decider between the pairs of Brian McCarthy & Conor O’Riordan along with Bobby Kelly & Sean O’Brien on Sunday December 28th. Brian and Conor were 3up with four to play but Bobby & Sean battled back to bring the margin down to 1up before matters went awry for Bobby & Sean on the 17th green with Brian & Conor 2&1 winners overall. Congratulations to both as we thank Utility Trust for their support of this revived event. December 28th Draws: Fourball Betterball- First Nett: Gearoid Cronin & Dave Spillane 40, Gross: Robbie O'Brien Snr & Sean Ashe 49 and Second Nett: Gerard O'Brien & Dan Kiely 41½. New Years Day: Two Ball Scramble- First Nett: Alan O’Sullivan & Jerry Kelliher 34 (B9), Second Nett: Alan O’Sullivan & Sean O’Brien 34. AGM: Our 2026 Club AGM takes place in the clubhouse on Wednesday January 14th next at 7pm. All adult members welcome to attend. Deepest Sympathies: It was an immensely sad time for our Club PRO over Christmas as the death occurred of Jason O’Connor’s father Denis in the run-up to New Year’s Eve. Our members showed great support for Jason throughout a tough week however as we send Jason, his mother Margaret, his brother Eric and his family along with Jason’s extended family our deepest sympathies once more. May he Rest in Peace.
